More Information

You'll be hard-pressed to find someone more Phoenician than the former mayor himself. Born and raised in Phoenix, Greg Stanton shares a genuine love for the city as someone who truly wants to see it flourish. It was a pleasure having him as our guest as we had the opportunity to see first hand how passionate he is about our future, particularly the revitalization of certain areas. Areas like midtown Phoenix, where Stanton's desired food choice of Windsor and Churn are located (we like when our guests pick where to eat because it makes for a more authentic experience). So much transformation has already taken place over the past few years in this area; new restaurants, home remodels, and places of business have all been sprouting up. But on this day our destination choices are made possible by Upward Projects, a restaurant group dedicated to bringing new experiences to the surrounding community, and who's responsible for several of the additional restaurants gathered around the intersection of Central Avenue and Colter. They are one of many contributors focusing their efforts on flipping old buildings into eateries. The midtown area's growing presence of food isn't without a growing public transportation offering to match. Transportation like the light rail that runs up Central Avenue to Camelback Road, and other offerings like bike share programs such as Grid Bike Share. Of course, these are all things the former mayor is a strong advocate for (as are we) and we absolutely had to feature them in this episode. It speaks to the cultural and lifestyle changes that we can all say we're very proud of.
